Start an Ezine!

Thursday, March 26th, 2009
Evelyn Bennett asked:

An ezine is an online magazine.

If you look in supermarkets and corner shops you will see lots of magazines on many varied subjects from computer gaming to health foods and fashion to photography – there are lots of subjects out there that people, both men and women are interested in. Most, if not all, of these magazines have a subscription option where you can pay for a whole years worth of magazines and have them mailed to you. Most of these magazines do not just have information on the topic in question but also show advertisements for other similar themed magazines. However, they all contain information on that particular subject that they are geared towards. Some of them also have free gifts attached to them each month as a temptation for people to buy, such as demo computer games for you to try out.

All of these ideas have now come to the Internet and ezines are very popular – even the ‘real’ magazines are being put onto the web for people to read online.

The point I am making is this – if you were to set up an ezine on a particular subject, you could fill it with articles that you have written and affiliating with others and putting their ads in your Ezine would also give you a chance of an income. Rather like a membership site, your customers would have to pay for the ezine either on a monthly basis or a yearly subscription. By having a free e-book each month available to them (where the license permits) would give them a reason to stay and continue purchasing your ezine. You could also have available for sale e-books at a discount price for members only and they could be on various different subjects for the reason that one of your members may want to purchase it as a birthday present for someone.

You do not have to stop at one ezine either – you could have a website with ezines on all different subjects and your website visitors could then choose which ezine they would like to purchase all at one shop – much like a supermarket!

Starting an ezine is just one idea of niche marketing.

Understanding Magazine Publishing Concepts

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009
Joseph Nyamache asked:

When you first start a magazine publishing business expect to face the pressure of competing against those magazines that have been in the industry for years and also other new players with hefty pocketbooks who are able to experiment with different layouts and titles before they settle on one particular look. If you decide that you, too, want to be in this industry, be aware that it’s a pretty tough sell.

Oftentimes, those in business don’t count out magazine publishing as a possible venture to get into, and in fact, it can be a good thing. There’s also an image of magazine publishing as a wonderful, lucrative challenge. It’s certainly not glamorous, but there’s money in it for those who are willing to work hard and can be successful in it. It’s true that some of the so-called “old” players have sold out, but it’s likely that they did so at quite a profit to new magnates. If you want to start up your own magazine, what’s going to be your first step?

First, decide on what your magazine’s concept is going to be. Brainstorm on your own at first. Your interests in the magazine world would suggest that you like to read magazines yourself. Therefore, take a look at what’s already out there and read up on the industry itself. Do you have favorite titles you follow? Take a look at those, and take a look at other popular titles, too. Make sure you check outside of your comfort zone as well as within it so that you know what your audience is going to be reading. This will help you come up with a fresh, new approach that just might make you successful.

When you’ve got some concepts to choose from, take a moment to pause and choose the one you think you’re most interested in and capable of handling. Remember that interest alone is not going to be enough to determine your success. You’re also going to have to have some basic experience in the industry you choose. For example, if you have fashion sense, then maybe your magazine is going to be about fashion or a niche within the industry. Is music your passion? Then maybe you can start a magazine about a particular niche in music. Don’t try to emulate Rolling Stone, but make your own mark. Rolling Stone is as great as it is because it made its own niche in its own day. You have to do the same.

Next, decide what your target market is going to be. It’s likely that you already have some idea of this once you’ve picked out your concept, but make sure you refine it. Then, invest your time, money and energy in expanding your concept so that it can really fuel a magazine. This may take some time and a few missteps, but if you keep at it, stay with your audience and keep people interested in it, you should have success.

Once you’ve got your concept covered and expanded, start your magazine. It’s okay to start small and then grow as your circulation does. It’s better not to get in over your head in the beginning, because doing so may spell failure. Instead, start small and grow with your circulation. This can help ensure your success.

How to Get More Affiliate Checks

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
C. J Reed asked:

Promises of earning tons of profits without doing anything tempts tons of people to try out affiliate marketing. However, is this really how affiliate marketing works?

All that affiliates need to do is place the ad of a merchant onto their websites. Then, they simply wait for anybody to click on that ad and gather profits from it later on. Sounds easy, right? Well, it isn’t easy all the time. A lot of affiliates hardly earn anything this way because they don’t do anything after that. Keep in mind that affiliate marketing is still marketing, so you have to market the products of your merchant well if you want to make good money.

The successful affiliates of such programs do not just sit and wait for the profits to come in because they know that earning money does not work like that. If you wish to succeed at affiliate marketing and make sure you get more and more affiliate checks, you need to take action. Think up ways to promote the products and business of your merchant, as well as how to convince people to click on ads or links that your merchant provides. You need to make your sales as an affiliate increase in order to succeed.

So, if you are an affiliate marketing novice and wish to follow the methods of unsuccessful affiliates out there, you will definitely not go very far. This does not mean that you should stop, though. Instead, you should simply take several steps to make your program work and get more commissions out of it. Here are several guidelines that might help you make more and more affiliate checks:

Become an affiliate product expert.

You will become better at product promotion if you know more about the product you are promoting. To do so, buy the product yourself. By doing this, you can let your customers know about your own experience with it and even write personal endorsement ads or testimonials about it. However, if conditions do not allow you to buy the product, do some proper research on it, at least.

Host a personal website.

Also, make sure your domain name is easy to remember and fairly short since visitors will never remember incomprehensible and long URLs, thus making them avoid visiting your website again in the future and you getting less traffic onto your webpage. This would also mean that there are less chances of your affiliate links and ads getting visited.

Write affiliate ads on your own.

A lot of merchants will not mind if you design and write personal ads for them, provided you ask them first and show them the ad prior to placing it onto your website. This will give you a better advantage over other affiliates who advertise the same kind of affiliate products.

Join chat rooms, forums, and discussion boards related to your affiliate product.

You might have ignored them before, but now you can begin to concentrate on them. You can either start a chat or take part in an existing one related to the product. There is no need to promote the affiliate product right away, though; instead, find chances to promote and advertise it later on. The same goes for forums, message boards and discussion boards.

Create free newsletters or ezines.

Newsletters and ezines refer to periodical publications that inform people about certain things. Within your own newsletters and ezines, you do not have to keep promoting your product, though, since this might just annoy several subscribers. Instead, find ways to insert affiliate links and ads in several parts of it. Also, make sure you promote your newsletter or ezine on your personal website itself.

These are merely several guidelines to help you increase affiliate sales and make sure you keep getting more affiliate checks. Naturally, many more tips abound out there, which you can follow if you believe they could work for you. The important thing is that you find ways to generate more website traffic, convince visitors to actually click on your website ads, and effectively promote the products of your merchants even from outside your website. With all of that in mind, you are sure to succeed when it comes to affiliate marketing in no time.

Give Them What They Need To Succeed

The Ezine marketing automation secrets I’m sharing here should prove to be of great interest to you. Because ezines are incredibly powerful marketing tools the marketing and promotion of your ezine is an essential part of your on or offline business. I’m going to show you some key concepts about ezine marketing that are eye opening! Let’s make no mistake about it, as I keep repeating here…marketing your ezines is an extremely powerful form of advertising and is a complete step-by-step system that once you take it by the hand, will kick your marketing campaign into overdrive.

Article Directories

Article directories should soon become your best friend. Directories will post your article on their site directly on their front page for you! As they promote their own site with fresh, new and useful content, the directory owners are effectively marketing your ezine for you – for FREE! You are able to post your bio and link to your main website which effectively drives more traffic to your business. This is a marketers dream! Wait! It gets even better…these directories offer feeds of your articles to whomever finds your content helpful. They can put your articles on their site…As IS! Cost Effective, Warm & Fuzzies Included

An ezine marketing is cheap and easy to publish – especially when compared to conventional offline publishing as with a printed newsletter. An ezine is the perfect way to stay in touch with your subscribers and prospects on a regular basis and every week you can send them a free ezine filled with marketing tips directly to their email box. It will contain helpful advice on ezine promotion, email list management, email marketing, revenue generation, and more… Do you get the picture? Your subscriber will experience the marketing “Warm & Fuzzies” wanting what you have to offer. As a writer, publishing short stories through ezines is also a powerful communication tool and has a fantastic boomerang effect. Your subscribers return to visit you regularly…Very different from an e-mail marketing campaign that blasts millions of mail messages to unsuspecting readers, as is the case with SPAM, viral marketing using ezines is a very different process.

Staying Compliant With Internet Laws

The SPAM laws dictate that everyone who receives email from you, will have had to ask you for it and will have authorized you to send it to them. As soon as they no longer want your email, it is your responsibility to ensure they are removed from your list ASAP! It only takes one or two spam complaints from subscribers to have your email operations shut down. It’s no easy feat to come back from a severe loss of communication like this and the potential loss of earnings can be tremendous. Do yourself a favor and join an email auto-responder company that will ensure your join and remove requests are handled with little effort on your part. You can auto load hundreds of follow up emails that can be sent to your subscribers in succession and in intervals that you choose. Monthly, daily, weekly, or any other pattern that you choose.

Something For All Business, All Topics

Every ezine has a topic: marketing, humor, gardening, sports, etc… A guaranteed route to success used by many Internet marketers who turn a profit is to incorporate ezines & newsletters into their marketing strategy. Through ezines, an abundance of information can be delivered to thousands instantly. From marketing strategies to humor, cooking to culture, health to home business and any other topic you can dream of. Do yourself a favor and add this to your list of marketing tools. The returns are worth more than you can imagine.
