How To Bounce Back From An Ezine Disaster

Thursday, January 29th, 2009
Susan Daffron asked:

Publishing an email newsletter or ezine regularly is a lot of work. And if you think that you’ll never make a mistake, think again. Even experienced publishers can make mistakes because of technology or human error. It’s all too easy to press the wrong button and have a disastrous “oops moment.”

When the mouse is quicker than the brain or you pull a really bonehead maneuver, here are five simple tips for making amends to your readership:

1. Apologize. A little old fashioned groveling never hurts anything but your pride. In today’s spam-phobic world, just a few irate readers can cause an entire ISP ban your newsletter or land your ezine on one of the many spam-blocking lists. So before anyone can accuse you of doing something wrong, beat them to the punch. Suck up your pride and send an “I’m sorry” email to your entire list. Make it humble, human, and heartfelt.

2. Hurry! Alert your entire mailing list about the mistake as soon as you can. This advice is especially important if you’re struggling with a crisis, like a hacked list server that’s cramming inboxes with multiple repeat messages. Showing readers and advertisers that you’re paying attention and really working on the problem reestablishes their confidence in you (and keeps them on your list).

3. Get Personal. Customize the subject line of your apology so it demands attention. For example, an informative subject line like “Apology For Mistake In MyEzine” works better than “Read Immediately” (which sounds like spam).

4. Explain. Tell your readers and advertisers the reasons “why” the mistake happened. Whether it was human error, a bug in your mailing software, or bad luck, give your readers a few details. Just make sure you don’t over do it trying to explain really technical problems or ramble on about your personal stress level.

5. Bribe. If your ezine blooper is threatening to send readers and advertisers packing, offer enticing perks to make up for the mistake. Maybe a free report, a coupon, some nice templates, or software can save your list and your reputation. Just make sure the freebie is good quality and original that people can’t just pick up anywhere.

An ezine publishing mistake can threaten your list. So remember that prevention is the best medicine. Be sure to test every single mailing. Also invest in a quality list server and secure hosting, and always monitor everything that’s automated.

Just in case, you also might want to use the tips above to develop your own ezine “disaster plan checklist.” That way, when the Ezine Gods get cranky, you’ll be one step ahead of them!

Business Ezine Marketing Strategy Secrets

Saturday, January 24th, 2009
Mark A. Abrahams asked:

Having a profitable business ezine marketing strategy is
one of the most important things which you need to do and
get right for your business. Usually this is what separates
the big boys from the people who only market on the
internet as a hobby. There are several ways that you can
develop a very profitable business ezine marketing
strategy.

You need to advertise in ezines which are related to the
niche market that you have targeted. To succeed at this you
need to master the following skills of writing an email.
You need to be able to write a subject line that is
compelling enough for people to actually open.
You also need to be able to craft an email with good copywriting
skills that will actually get you results.

Another very important aspect of a good email marketing
strategy is that you need to be able to build a very
responsive list. You do this by building a very good
relationship with your subscribers. To achieve this you
need to do the following. Send out a very informative email
newsletter that offers a lot of value. You also need to
send out emails where you offer your subscribers gifts like
a free video or a pdf report that has a lot of valuable
information that they can use.

My favourite way of creating a profitable email strategy is
to write articles and submit them to the top article
directories. When people read the article they usually
click on my bio and get directed to my squeeze page where I
capture their name and email address. This allows me to
market to them over and over again.

The sooner you start implementing a business ezine
marketing strategy the sooner you will be able to make more
of your email marketing efforts.

What’s Your Marketing Personality?

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009
Michelle Shaeffer asked:

For new business owners marketing can be a big challenge. If you aren’t sure where to begin, take some time to think about what you enjoy, and you’ll find your “marketing personality.” You can use that to build a marketing plan that you won’t dread acting on.

Do you enjoy writing? Write some reports and distribute them free. Or write articles and place them on EzineArticles.com and other sites.

Do you enjoy talking and spending time in groups? Go to the local mom’s hangouts, library story times, where ever your target market is and make friends! Then share a business card.

Are you a graphics/print design whiz? Throw together some rockin’ flyers then get out there and hang them up. Or make a few cool blinkies with messages your target market would love, then setup a MySpace page and give the blinkies away free.

Love to teach and motivate people? Try offering a free teleseminar or creating a short video seminar about something related to your products or services.

Great at explaining and demonstrating how things work? Think of something related to your product or service you can demonstrate, record a video of it, and distribute it on YouTube. This can work especially well if you can think of a creative way to add an element of mystery or humor to it.

Don’t worry about following some checklist of the “right” marketing methods, or what’s “hot” today in marketing – you need to follow the methods that work for your personality and your products. As you continue to grow your business you’ll find that you can stretch yourself into new marketing methods and strategies.

Low Cost Marketing by Publishing Your Own Ezine

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009
Sherri Wynters asked:

Low-Cost, High-Profit

Can you imagine the infrastructure needed for setting up your own publishing house the conventional way? It is common knowledge that a brick and mortar business is full of risks and costs a lot of time and money to setup. You need to have lots of paid-staff like editors, news reporters and even a cleaning staff!

As an Ezine publisher, you gain the benefits of a conventional newsletter publisher enjoys without worrying about paper at all! You can easily and conveniently spread your marketing influence and expertise to all your subscribers even if you are just an ordinary individual. Basically, you’re the boss!

You do not have to invest in expensive printing equipment, brick and mortar business, and hiring staff just to run your own newsletter publication, resulting in a lot of time, money and effort saved. So what could be better?

The goal of every business is low-cost, high profit!

Having big buildings and many staff at your disposal may make you feel powerful, but in reality, all this cost lots of money. Every staff and building is just additional overhead. You may earn a lot of money but you are spending a lot at the same time! Operating your Ezine in the comfort of your on home is much more cost effective. Remember that every penny saved is a penny earned!

Do you know that an autoresponder will also double as your salesperson, customer relations manager and support clerk? An autoresponder works round the clock and doesn’t go for lunch breaks (and they cost about $15 – $20 a month to operate!)

The business of Ezine publishing is also highly scalable because more subscribers will not burden you as much compared to servicing your customers in the real world like a sales person. When you have your online business setup, it can even run on autopilot – a set-and-forget model!

Multiple Profit Funnels

Experts have claimed that it is suicidal for anyone to have only ONE source of income. If you have only one source of income, you are in a risky position. Even in an online business, if you are focusing on selling one product to many different markets, your income potential is very limited and you are not maximizing your resources.

The beauty of an online business is this – you can create a business model or a website and build traffic, build relationships with your customers and sell them products. Once your website has developed enough traction, you can start focusing on the profits.

You might not make much money if you are just starting out, but if one website can bring in $500 to $1,000 every single month on autopilot, I am very sure you won’t mind creating multiple profit funnels.

The same applies to an Ezine. You can build your Ezine business just like any niche marketing websites. You drive traffic, get them to subscribe to your newsletter or Ezine, build relationships through your newsletter or e-course and sell them your own products or promote affiliate programs.

Once your Ezine is on autopilot, you can create ANOTHER Ezine and create another profit funnel for yourself! You can create one after another and soon, you will have many online businesses operating for you each giving you residual income.

The best thing about Ezines is that you can build them with any other Internet business models out there. Let’s say you are into AdSense publishing, a newsletter will turn a common subscriber into one of your loyal blog readers. How about Google AdWords? If you have a powerful newsletter linked to a well written sales copy, you can even use AdWords to draw traffic into your newsletter.

How about with affiliate programs? You can create many different Ezines all with recommended resources to all sorts of affiliate programs out there. The possibilities are endless. All you need to do is source for the ones that pay the highest commissions and which programs are most suitable for your subscribers.

Global Marketing Articles – Top Seven Pros For Article Marketing

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009
Judy Cullins asked:

Do you want to be #1-10 on Google and other search engine rankings? Do you want quadruple your Web sales in five months? Promote your business to the top with these 7 reasons to write and submit how-to global marketing articles.

1. Reach 10,000 to 150,000 targeted potential customers or clients every week Online that translates to increased sales. These people sign up for the no-spam ezines that you submit your articles to. They want what you have.

2. Spend less than seven hours a week for big results. Once you learn the learn the “articles system” from an internet marketing coach, your word will reach these big audiences hungry for free information. They need your articles for their ezines and web sites, because content brings the visitors to a web site.

3. Get free publicity from the worldwide web. Like me, in just eight months, think of getting your URL listed on 1000 other web sites, and, in 3 years, on over 4500 web sites. That too, translates to boosted sales.

4. Get seven times the impact of other promotion methods such as press releases, ads, talks, or link exchanges. When those many thousands of people online read your articles, they will see that you are the right savvy person in your field. Their trust builds, and they will eventually buy from you. Be patient with this process, because big results may take up to eight months.

5. Get frequent web visitors because you have also listed your articles on your web site. Have your web master add a link at the bottom of each article straight to your sales letter for each service and product. Content rich sites attract new buyers. Search engines notice the key words within your articles, and your site will rise to the top quickly. This is how your Internet coach got to be #1 in Google with the words book coaching.

6. Reach thousands of potential buyers when you submit one or two articles each two weeks to related web sites. These sites post your articles with a link back to your site. The more articles you submit, the better you are known as the savvy expert in your field.

7. Parlay your numbers when someone says, “I’m publishing your article on this site, or it’s going into this ezine.” How? Write a short thank you and offer to put this person’s email on your ePublishers email list to which you submit new articles to weekly.

This easy, little time investment of submitting articles will yield money results far beyond most traditional marketing paths.
